Attapulgite

 

Uses: Industrial spillage absorbent

 

Attapulgite is a magnesium aluminosilicate clay.  Its name is derived from the town of Attapulgus, Georgia, where the mineral is abundant.

Residue on 6.7mm sieve … 0.5% (range 0-1%)

Residue on 5.6mm sieve … 4.4% (range 2-6%)

Finer than 0.5mm … 2.5% (range 1-5%)

 

Physical Properties:

Moisture Content … 8.5% (range 7.8-9.1%)

Water Absorption … 93.0% (range 87-101%)

Oil Absorption … 37.1% (range 34-45%)

Apparent Density … 660 Kg/m3 (range 650-676 Kg/m3)

 

Packaged in 25 litre sacks (approx 16.5 Kg).
